Mounds View French 3: Wednesday, September 10, 2014

DUE: First Skit!
  • Prepare skit about a relationship (romantic, platonic, family, whatever) that incorporates at least seven of the vocab words in this list.
  • Every time you say one of the vocab words, you must hold up a small poster displaying the word (in font large enough for everyone in room to read!).
  • You may work solo, in pairs, in trios, or in quartets.
  • Each skit participant must say at least five sentences.
  • I will tolerate scripts but encourage work from memory.
  • Practice time available in first half of Wednesday's class.
  • Everyone presents in second half of Wednesday's class!

[20 minutes] Introduce accent marks!
[20 minutes] Finish oral quizzes (hello, what's your name, how are you, count 1-30)

[11 minutes] CAH checks homework!

DUE: Les Devoirs: Handwrite all vocab words and phrases on p. 4 D'accord four times!

[10 minutes] Lecture: enquête!
  • Students read and write responses to presonality survey, p. 5, Ex. 3.
  • CAH checks homework during this time.
[10 minutes] Résultats au tableau! Calculate class score based on sums of student responses.\

[20 minutes] Vocab Practice:
  • Read and repeat vocabulary on p. 4
  • Use new words in conversation.
  • If time allows, do p. 5, Exs. 1 & 2 together out loud.

Mounds View French 3: Monday, September 8, 2014

DUE: Les Devoirs: écrivez et conjuguez sept verbes!
  1. aller
  2. avoir

  5. un verbe -er
  6. un verbe -ir
  7. un verbe -re
Pour chaque verbe, écrivez les six formes du présent, les six formes du passé composé, et les six formes de l’imparfait. Par exemple:

Write all homework by hand, not typing. Handwriting will help you better memorize your French!

[5 minutes] Pair and compare!
  • Students check each other's work, especially on the four main irregular verbs
  • CAH checks homework during this time
 [20 minutes] Review verb conjugations present, past, and imperfect!
  • Each student puts one verb conjugation (all three tenses) on board.
  • Save space: put just one form of passé composé with helping verb up.
  • Highlight oddities.
  • Review difference between passé composé and imparfait.
 [10 minutes] New Vocab! p. 4 of D'accord! Écoutez et répétez.

  1. Conduct a "Hello, what's your name" conversation.
  2. Conduct a "Hi, How are you" conversation.
  3. Count from 1 to 30 in French.
  4. Say "See you later."
[5 minutes] Review alphabet pronunciation

[5 minutes] Review questions about oral quiz.

[46 minutes] Oral quiz in hall!

  1. Prepare for Oral Quiz 2: recite alphabet en français!
  2. Hand write all vocab phrases in boxes on p. 2 of Espaces and all number words 1-20 (p.12) four times.

  • Minimum one minute
  • No notes!
[10 minutes] CAH presentation! CAH tells about his summer; students take notes, each gives one fact from what CAH said after he finishes.
