Rules

Rules for Webster HS Math

I'll be subbing for you from August 28 until the first week ro so of November. These rules apply strictly during my tenure. When Ms. Kuecker returns, these rules disappear, and her rules apply.
  1. Come to class every day with your math book, paper, a writing utensil, and a good book to read.
  2. Acceptable activities during class are doing math, doing other schoolwork, and reading a good book.
  3. Behavior that helps you and others learn math is cool. Behavior that hinders you or others from learning math is not cool. Be cool.
  4. Fight distraction: pay attention to the people who are speaking to you so you can learn from them.
  5. Fight distraction: turn your phone off. Not vibrate, not silent, but off. I reserve the right to confiscate any phone or other device that distracts us from learning math.
  6. Homework is due the day it's due. If you don't show me your homework by the end of the due date, you lose points.
    1. Late homework is worth half-credit if submitted within one week of the original due date.
    2. Late homework submitted more than one week after the due date is worth no points (but doing it is good for your brain).
  7. You will earn points for daily homework, quizzes, and tests. I will calculate your final grade by weighting those items as follows:
    1. Homework: 40%
    2. Quizzes: 20%
    3. Tests: 40%
      • For example: If you earn 190 out of 200 possible points for homework, 120 out of 150 possible points on quizzes, and 340 out of 400 possible points on tests, your grade will be
      • (190/200)*40% + (120/150)*20% + (340/400)*40%
      • = (90%)*40% + (80%)*20% + (85%)*40%
      • = 36% + 16% + 34%
      • = 86%.
  8. I reserve the right to add or amend rules as is necessary for the cause of helping you learn math. I will notify you of amendments and additions before implementing them.
